KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia today logged 6,243 coronavirus cases, taking overall infections to 2,522,498 since the pandemic began.
There were 5,068 recoveries recorded and the cumulative recovered cases now stand at 2,430,122.
Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah in a statement said of the total new cases, 1.7% or 106 were in Categories 3, 4 and 5.
A total of 98.3%, or 6,137 are in Categories 1 and 2.
“Meanwhile, 543 of the cases require treatment in intensive care units, with 279 of them on ventilators.
He also said that seven new clusters had been identified involving two workplace clusters and the rest involved a high-risk group, an educational institution under the Education Ministry (MoE), another education-related one, a private educational institution registered with the MoE, and a higher education institution.
“The states which reported new clusters are Selangor, Penang, Kelantan, Johor and Pahang, as well as the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur,” he said.

Sarawak logs 480 new Covid-19 cases
Only nine of the 480 new Covid-19 cases reported in Sarawak today have lung infection and required respiratory assistance, according to the state Disaster Management Committee.
In a statement, it said the remaining 471 cases were asymptomatic or with mild symptoms.
A total of 12 fatalities were reported in the state, involving individuals aged between 48 and 90 with illnesses such as high blood pressure, diabetes and kidney disease.
Two of the fatalities occurred on October 3 and October 13, while 10 death cases were reported between November 4 and yesterday.
The disaster committee also declared the end of the Sibuluh-Nowang cluster in Bau, and the DTI Bekenu Cluster in Subis after no new cases were detected within the last 28 days, bringing the total number of active clusters in the state to 18. – Bernama, November 10, 2021
