GEORGETOWN – Four friends were arrested after posing as policemen to commit robbery at Bukit Gedung Complex, Bayan Baru, here, last Wednesday.

The suspects, aged between 20 and 30, were arrested after the southwest police station received a report from a complainant at about 2.12pm.

Southwest district police chief Kamarul Rizal Jenal said the four suspects were arrested as they are believed to have robbed a victim of money and mobile phones in Astaka Bukit Gedung at about 4.30am last Wednesday.

“In the incident, the suspect is said to have disguised himself as a policeman and stolen a Samsung mobile phone and RM60 in cash belonging to the complainant at the scene.

“At the time, two friends of the complainant, who were also at the scene, were robbed of cash worth RM90 and RM20 each before the suspect fled on a motorcycle.

“Following the report, police have managed to detain the suspects around Bayan Baru and in Kg Baru, Ayer Itam, here,” he told reporters today.

Kamarul Rizal said further investigations revealed all the suspects have drug-related criminal records.

“The suspects are currently remanded until November 30 to assist in the investigations according to Section 395/170 of the Penal Code.” – The Vibes, November 19, 2021
