KUALA LUMPUR – New Covid-19 cases in Malaysia recorded a slight decrease with 6,355 infections today, bringing the cumulative total to 2,575,888, said Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
Only 31 of the new infections were imported, with the other 6,324 being local cases.
In a statement today, he said that a total of 5,031 recoveries were also reported, pushing total recovery cases to 2,477,314.
He added that of the new cases reported today, 542 are in intensive care units and 268 require respiratory assistance.
“Among the 6,355 cases recorded today, 6,240 cases (98.2%) involved patients in categories 1 and 2 while 115 (1.8%) involved cases in categories 3, 4, and 5,” he said.
The nation has seen a total of 5,877 clusters since the beginning of the pandemic, including 10 new clusters detected today.
The number of clusters that have ended are at 5,631 while 246 remain active.
