MELAKA – Pakatan Harapan (PH) has conceded the state polls and congratulated Barisan Nasional for its convincing victory today.
In accepting its defeat, PH secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution said that the coalition will have to study the results of the vote thoroughly.
This includes determining the key factors that cost the coalition its victory. However, the PKR leader said its performance in Melaka will not be PH’s sole measuring stick for the people’s voting patterns.
“Despite receiving the mandate from the people of Melaka in 2018, due to political instability, we were unable to complete our term.
“However, we must accept the mandate of the people today as it was done through the ballot box,” he said.
When asked if PH’s decision to accept two former Umno assemblymen — Datuk Seri Idris Haron and Datuk Norazman Hassan Baktee — into its fold is among the reasons for its heavy defeat, Saifuddin said this needs to be examined closer. – The Vibes, November 20, 2021– The Vibes, November 20, 2021
