Daily Covid-19 cases dip to 5,859 today: Noor Hisham

KUALA LUMPUR – After three days of daily Covid-19 cases passing the 6,000 mark, Malaysia today recorded a decrease in cases with 5,859 infections today, bringing the cumulative caseload to 2,581,747.

In a statement, Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said only 19 of the new infections were imported, with the other 5,840 being local cases. 

He added that a total of 4,970 recoveries were reported, pushing the total recoveries to 2,482,284. 

Some 529 are in intensive care and 261 require breathing assistance. 

“Among the 5,859 cases recorded today, 102 cases (1.7%) involve patients in categories 3, 4, and 5 while 5,757 (98.3%) involved patients in categories 1 and 2.”

The nation has seen a total of 5,878 clusters since the beginning of the pandemic, including one new cluster detected today. 

The number of clusters that have ended are at 5,638 while 240 remain active. – The Vibes, November 20, 2021
