MELAKA – Perikatan Nasional’s (PN) loss in the state polls will not affect ties among its component parties, as it will instead become a serious challenger to Barisan Nasional (BN) in the time to come, said Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

“Will I leave my party and return to my previous one (Umno)? That is definitely not going to happen. The people were given a chance to choose so we could offer something better,” he said in a press conference here last night.

Bersatu won two seats under the PN banner – Sg Udang (Mohd Aleef Yusof) and Bemban (Mohd Yadzil Yaakub) – and lost Telok Mas and Paya Rumput.

Muhyiddin said PN will carry out a detailed study on its loss here and work to fix its mistakes in time for the next election, Getaran reported.

“This defeat will be a lesson to guide our steps in the next election. PN is ready to face the possibility of a general election and another state election.

“This is a jihad, and we want the voters to give a fair assessment of what we are offering.” – The Vibes, November 21, 2021
