KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia recorded 4,854 Covid-19 infections today, marking a downward trend in the country's daily caseload, according to Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
On Twitter, the health director-general said today’s new cases brought cumulative infections up to 2,586,601.
Only 12 of the reported cases were imported, with the other 4,842 being local ones.
In a statement today, he said the nation also recorded 5,525 recoveries today, bringing the total number of recovered cases up to 2,487,809.
He added that, of the new cases reported today, 541 are being treated in intensive care units while 267 require respiratory assistance.
“Among the 4,854 cases reported today, 86 (1.8%) involved patients in categories 3, 4 and 5 while another 4,768 (98.2%) involved patients in categories 1 and 2,” he said.
The nation has seen a total of 5,881 clusters since the beginning of the pandemic, including three new clusters detected today.
The number of clusters that have ended stands at 5,646 with 235 remaining active.
