KEPALA BATAS – Two men are feared to have drowned after trying to escape from police at Pasar Bisik, Kuala Muda here, early this morning.

A spokesman for the Penang Fire and Rescue Department said an emergency call was placed at 5.32am regarding the incident.

Following that, personnel from the Kuala Muda fire station and the water rescue team rushed to the scene for a search and rescue operation.

“When we arrived at the scene, there were two men feared to have drowned in the river while trying to escape the police.

“The men’s identities have yet to be ascertained,” he told reporters today.

A fire control centre was also opened at the scene.

Meanwhile, Seberang Prai Utara district police chief Mohd Radzi Ahmad said, before the incident, a team was carrying out crime prevention operations and enforcing SOP compliance at the location.

“The incident happened around 3am this morning. A group of men who were gathered at Pasar Bisik ran away when they saw the police.

“Some were even determined to jump into the sea. Efforts are being made to find the two men.” – The Vibes, November 24, 2021
