Health DG breaks down MoH-approved booster shots

KUALA LUMPUR – Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah has shared a recommended summary for Covid-19 booster shot recipients.

On Twitter, Dr Noor Hisham posted a table for the latest homologous and heterologous booster shots approved by the ministry’s Technical Working Committee (TWC).

According to the summary, recipients of the Pfizer and AstraZeneca vaccines can receive booster shots from both brands six months after getting their second dose.

Sinovac recipients can receive booster shots from either the same brand or from Pfizer and AstraZeneca three months after their second shot.

Sinopharm recipients will be given Pfizer or AstraZeneca vaccines three months after their second dosage.

Meanwhile, those inoculated with the Moderna and CanSino vaccines will be given Pfizer and AstraZeneca six months after their second dose.

Finally, those who were given the Johnson and Johnson single-shot vaccine will be given Pfizer or AstraZeneca two months after receiving the first dose.

Dr Noor Hisham’s updates come after Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin had urged all quarters, especially Sinovac vaccine recipients, to get their Covid-19 booster shots when they can.

On Twitter yesterday, Khairy noted that the Sinovac vaccine, although generally effective, becomes less potent compared with others over time. – The Vibes, November 24, 2021
