KUALA LUMPUR – PKR will consider using its own logo in upcoming elections, following calls to consider shifting from having a common logo and prime minister candidate.
PKR communications chief Fahmi Fadzil said consideration for not using a common logo had been raised by the party’s leadership and grassroots members prior to the recent Melaka polls.
“However, moving forward, Keadilan (PKR) is of the view that there are merits for PKR’s logo to be used (in future polls),” he said in a statement.
“The matter will be discussed in detail in the next Pakatan Harapan (PH) meeting.”
Fahmi, who is also Lembah Pantai MP, issued the statement after the PKR Central Leadership Committee (MPP) meeting today.
The statement came after DAP national organising secretary Anthony Loke suggested in shifting from its past belief, a common logo and prime minister candidate were needed to win an election, as reported by Malaysiakini.
The topic of the common logo and prime minister candidate has been at the centre of discussion among Pakatan Harapan (PH) parties since the coalition suffered a heavy defeat in the Melaka polls.
Meanwhile, Fahmi said among the topics discussed at the meeting were the recent November 20 Melaka polls and the use of the PH logo.
He said preliminary findings of the meeting found that the standard operating procedures for campaigning in the state election had hampered the process of introducing new candidates, as well as a logo that was different from the one used in the 14th general election.
“The matter was stressed upon by PKR leadership and grassroots members from early on in the Melaka polls,” he said.
“However, since PKR understood the inclination of our friends in PH at the time, we had made the decision to use the said (PH) logo.” – The Vibes, November 28, 2021
