KUCHING – PAS will only contest one seat – Beting Maro – in the 12th Sarawak election, said its deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man.

The party’s sole candidate is Sarawak PAS secretary Mohammad Arifiriazul Paijo, 37.

“The decision to field only one candidate in the state polls was made based on several factors, including the Covid-19 threat, which is far from over.

“PAS also would like to maintain the relations at the federal level with the multi-party government, including Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS),” Tuan Ibrahim told a press conference after presenting the appointment letter to Arifiriazul here today.

Also present were PAS information chief  Khairil Nizam Khirudin and Sarawak PAS commissioner Jofri Jaraiee.

For the record, Arifiriazul, who is an entrepreneur, had contested in Lambir, one of the 11 seats contested by PAS in the 11th Sarawak election. – Bernama, December 4, 2021
