KUALA LUMPUR – A debt of RM45 million to the Selangor government did not deter Landasan Lumayan Sdn Bhd (LLSB) from allegedly handing out “tokens of appreciation” worth RM10,000 to its board members.
According to Gombak Setia assemblyman Hilman Idham, despite the company suffering a loss of up to RM40 million within a span of three years, LLSB had proposed a 6% raise in salary last year and credited allowance payments of RM10,000 to contract staff.
He also claimed that LLSB had provided staff who fulfilled certain criteria four-month bonus payments.
“Based on an audit report by Selangor Menteri Besar Incorporated (MBI), the subsidiary company is incompetent at an operational level and inept at handling processes of waste disposal and cleaning at Sg Klang.
“The report also revealed a lack of proper workplace safety enforcement,” Hilman told the Selangor assembly on December 3.
In response, state infrastructure and agriculture committee chairman Izham Hashim said that the issues above had already been addressed by LLSB directly to MBI.
He further challenged any parties with doubts on the matter to make a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
LLSB is a wholly owned subsidiary of MBI and is mandated by the state government to manage the Selangor Maritime Gateway (SMG) initiative.
In March 2021, Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari had said that the SMG initiative aims to transform Sg Klang into a maritime economic zone and is expected to rake in more than RM1 billion in investments by 2030. – The Vibes, December 6, 2021
