PUTRAJAYA – The man-made beach at Anjung Floria, Precinct 4 here is poised to be Putrajaya’s newest leisure destination when it opens at the end of this month.
With an area of 600sqm, it covers a water and sandy area, and multi-level seating that can accommodate about 150 people at a time.
Putrajaya Corporation (PPj) president Datuk Muhammad Azmi Mohd Zain said the beach is quite special because it uses natural water from a nearby lake.
“This is the first time that we are using water from the lake itself. The Precinct 5 (man-made beach) is an artificial pool and the maintenance is quite high,” he told reporters after handing over Jom Balik Sekolah Putrajaya 2021 contributions here today.
He said the idea of a sandy beach arose given the clean Putrajaya lake where the water quality status was in class I and IIA, apart from the lake water flow of one million litres a day.
“A small entrance fee will be charged and if it gets an encouraging response, the same concept will be adopted for other lakes around Putrajaya,” he said, adding that tourism products in Putrajaya would be increased to offer business opportunities to its people.
Meanwhile, the donation programme, a PPj annual event, has allocated almost RM120,000 this year to help 200 primary and secondary school students from asnaf and poor families in Putrajaya.
“It is hoped that PPj’s contribution can reduce the burden of parents who have been impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic,” he said adding that the recipients of donations were selected through the e-Kasih system and PPj census in collaboration with relevant agencies.
The contribution includes school supplies vouchers worth RM100, school bags, school equipment, face masks and Covid-19 self-test kits. – Bernama, December 10, 2021
