KUALA LUMPUR – Floods which seemed to have inundated the district of Klang, Kapar as well as parts of Shah Alam and Kuala Langat have also expanded into various parts of the country following non-stop rain since yesterday.

Taking to Twitter today, Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari announced that 17 temporary flood relief centres (PPS) will be made available to flood victims.

At the same time, volunteers from Team Selangor and Selangor Volunteer have been mobilised to provide assistance to victims.

Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim also rushed to his constituency of Port Dickson following residents suffering from flash floods.

He also ordered assistance to be channeled to residents there.

“I’m in Port Dickson today, to observe a few areas that were hit by floods due to heavy rains yesterday.

“I also took the opportunity to visit victims in Taman Desa Permai, Sri Tanjung,” Anwar said on Facebook.

Meanwhile, similar incidents were reported in Melaka.

According to Polis Alor Gajah’s Facebook page, the Lubok China police station was submerged in floodwaters due to rising levels at a nearby river.

Furthermore, Met Department Malaysia issued further warning of bad weather today.

Continuous heavy rains are expected in areas like Gua Musang, Kelantan, as well as Cameron Highlands, Lipis, Jerantut, Maran and Kuantan in Pahang.

As for Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Negri Sembilan, Malacca, Penang, Perak, Kelantan, and Kedah, MET Malaysia warns of continuous rainfall. – The Vibes, December 18, 2021
