KUALA LUMPUR – As parts of Malaysia reported severe flooding throughout the region today, netizens have started issuing landslide alerts as well.

Following non-stop rainfall since yesterday, various areas in the Klang Valley, Melaka, and Negri Sembilan were hit by floods earlier today.

The constant downpour has now resulted in severe landslides, with some destroying transportation infrastructures.

The worst of which, seems to be the one located along Jalan Jimah-Sendayan in Seremban.

According to AlHijrah Online, the landslide near SK Jimah Baru had occurred at approximately 5am today.

Negri Sembilan Civil Defence Force director Mohd Syukri Madnor said the authorities had arrived to address flood reports in Kg Jimah, subsequently discovering that there was also a landslide.

Meanwhile, Lembah Pantai MP Fahmi Fadzil tweeted that a landslide has occurred at Lingkungan Negri Sembilan in Bukit Persekutuan, Kuala Lumpur.

“This (landslide) is approximately 50m from another reported landslide that happened around two months ago. Very worrying.

“I am on the way to the location, now at PLUS (North-South Expressway). Had to cancel plans to attend a programme in Melaka,” Fahmi added.

Moreover, the Public Works Department (JKR) noted that a landslide has occurred further north in Kuantan.

Kuantan JKR tweeted that the landslide is located along Jalan Sg Lembing (FT231), near the Pekan Sg Lembing gateway – adding that the route is currently closed.

Similarly, Twitter user @AinalMawarose reported another landslide incident along the Rembau-Senawang road, warning that only one lane remains usable. – The Vibes, December 18, 2021
