Nearly 600 areas in Petaling, Kuala Lumpur, Hulu Langat and other Klang Valley areas are experiencing unscheduled water supply disruptions due to the shutdown of several water treatment plants.
Continuous rainfall swept through the central states of Malaysia in the past few days, triggering flash floods and landslides that severely affected areas in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Pahang.
Thousands of victims have been evacuated from their homes into temporary shelters while many are still stranded, seeking help through social media.
Air Selangor said water tankers have been mobilised in stages to the affected areas, with priority given to critical premises during the unscheduled water supply disruption.
“Air Selangor is seeking consumers’ cooperation in practising social distancing and wearing face masks while collecting water from the tankers,” it said.
Consumers can look up the list of areas affected on Air Selangor’s website and the Air Selangor app.
The water company will post updates on this situation through its official accounts on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
Consumers can also get in touch with the Air Selangor contact centre at 15300, as well as submit enquiries and complaints through the help centre on the website and the Air Selangor app. – The Vibes, December 20, 2021
