KUALA LUMPUR – A senior citizen with three past criminal records was sentenced to six years’ jail by the Kuala Kubu Bharu sessions court, today, for having unnatural intercourse with a female goat.
According to Bernama, judge Nurul Mardhiah Mohammed Redza sentenced 60-year-old Shaari Hasan after he pleaded guilty to committing the offence at the back of his neighbour’s house in July when the case was brought up for mention today.
In addition to the jail sentence, the court also ordered the accused to be placed under police supervision for a year after being released from prison, in addition to seeking counselling services.
Prior to sentencing, Nurul Mardhiah questioned the cause of the goat’s death following the incident.
In response, deputy public prosecutor Khairunnisa Noor Harun said it was due to lung failure.
During the court proceedings, the accused also confirmed several case items including the picture of the goat and clothes belonging to him which were seized following the incident, including a green-coloured T-shirt and brown long pants, which were presented to him by the court interpreter.
The man was accused of committing the offence at a house in Kg Sungai Buaya, Rawang, here at 1.33pm on July 27.
He was charged under Section 377 of the Penal Code that provides a maximum 20-year jail term and fine or caning if found guilty.
Earlier, counsel Muizzudin Schanni Feizal Maurice Feizal, appearing on behalf of the accused, appealed for the court to sentence him from the date of arrest, saying that the accused regretted his actions in addition to asking for a reasonable sentence which befits the offence.
“The accused is a senior citizen who lives on his own. In light that the section provides caning, I appeal that it is not applied in the sentence as he is a senior citizen,” he said.
Meanwhile, Khairunnisa appealed to the court to mete out an appropriate sentence on the accused in light of the offence.
According to the facts of the case, a 45-year-old woman, who is the owner of the goat, realised what was happening at about 1.30pm after hearing weird sounds coming from the animal.
She then saw a half-naked man, whom she recognised, getting up from the goat before running away.
Upon checking the animal, she found it already dead. – The Vibes, December 24, 2021
