KUALA LUMPUR – The government has three mechanisms to disseminate the financial assistance for the flood victim recipients.
In a statement today, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali said that Putrajaya has allocated RM34 million to be channelled to 34,000 household heads in flood affected states starting today.
“This assistance is coordinated by the Disaster Control Operation Centre (DCOC) with the cooperation of the Prime Minister’s Department’s Implementation Control Unit (ICU).
“The allocation will be conducted through three mechanisms which are: by cash at DCOC; by cash via house-to-house visits; or online transfers,” said Zuki after the Post-Flood Task Force Meeting today.
To ensure that the funds are transferred quickly, the country’s highest ranking civil officer said that a household head needs only a confirmation from his or her community leader and they do not need to fill any forms.
At the same time, the DCOC and ICU are still searching for unregistered flood victims who may have fallen through the cracks.
The government has allocated RM1,000 to all affected households and RM10,000 to each family that has lost a loved one.
In related matters, the Housing and Local Government Ministry will mobilise its assets for clean-up duties.
It will be assisted by the Environment and Water Ministry to identify temporary solid waste stations, while police will ensure these operations run smoothly.
The Finance Ministry has also granted the Works Ministry and Environment and Water Ministry some leeway when it comes to procurement processes to speed up infrastructure repairs. – The Vibes, December 27, 2021
