KUALA LUMPUR – The authorities have found the structure of Kondominium Seri Duta 1 building problematic, noting it is in an area with high risk of a critical landslide.
In a statement, the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) said an appointed consultant and officers from the Public Works Department and Institut Kerja Raya Malaysia (Ikram) came to the conclusion following a soil stability report.
“There have been signs of soil movement that have affected the building structure. Among the signs of soil movement are damaged columns, surface tension cracks and floor cracks.
“These signs show that the area is not safe and will pose a risk to the residents of Kondominium Sri Duta 1 and occupants of the federal-owned land.”
The condominium has 14 blocks and each block has three to six floors.

According to DBKL, only Block 60/62, involving eight residential units, have been evacuated.
However, the Vibes was made to understand that the Fire and Rescue Department has also advised other residents to vacate their homes for the time being – particularly those in Blocks 64/66, 94/96 and 98/100.
Slope and building restoration works are being carried out and the progress will be reviewed by DBKL and Ikram.
Earlier, the committee said only eight units in Blocks 60/62 have been evacuated, even as the remaining residents were advised to find temporary lodging elsewhere.
It is also cooperating with the property manager and relevant authorities to address soil movement on the hill slope surrounding the property.
Widely shared photos of the residential block in Taman Duta recently have concerned the public, even though the residents have left the property.
