A LANDSLIDE struck a house in Kg Sarapung, Penampang, late yesterday evening, leaving one person rescued and another still missing.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said it received a distress call at 6.10pm and deployed seven firefighters from the Penampang station to the scene, led by operations commander PBK II KUP Rayndo Taimin.
According to initial information from villagers, a man was pulled from the damaged house by locals before rescuers arrived.
He was reported to be in stable condition. A second victim has not yet been found.

The landslide site is about 6km from the Penampang fire station.
Rescue teams deployed a quick response team to the location but noted that unstable ground and strong currents were hampering access.
Days of heavy afternoon rain have caused flooding across several parts of Penampang, with officials saying the saturated ground is believed to have triggered the slope failure.
The department said search operations are continuing, and further updates will be provided as the situation develops. - September 12, 2025
