KUALA LUMPUR – An accident at Km276.1 of Plus Highway saw a palm oil tanker spilling its contents into a drain, which may lead to the possible closure of Salak Tinggi’s water treatment plant.
“For now, no water treatment plants are closed, but we have been informed of a possible closure,” a source at the Selangor Water Management Authority (Luas) told The Vibes.
“Our technical team and other agencies are at the location, and we will issue a statement later.”
The matter also involves the Negri Sembilan water management authority.
According to a tweet by Luas, the pollutants from the tanker are expected to enter Sg Jerangkang and Sg Batang Labu, 10.7km from the Salak Tinggi plant.
Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd said the issue is under control for now.
“At the moment, it’s still under control. No announcement on a water disruption,” said Air Selangor press relations officer Hairuddin Noh. – The Vibes, November 6, 2020
