KLANG – Police here have arrested a 27-year-old mother and her boyfriend recently after her three-year-old toddler, who died at the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital (HTAR), was suspected to have been abused.

In a statement today, Klang Selatan district police chief Cha Hoong Fong said the case was reported by a medical officer at HTAR at 6.20pm on December 24.

The toddler, Cha said, had been unconscious when he was admitted to the hospital by his mother.

“Initial checks revealed that the toddler had died and that his body revealed multiple injuries and bruising throughout.

“Further investigation found swelling throughout the toddler’s body. This is believed to be caused by severe abuse and beating using a wooden stick, belt and clothes hanger which led to the death of the victim,” he said, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

Both suspects, he said, will be under remand for six days from December 25 until Friday.

“The case remains under investigation with investigation papers forwarded to the deputy public prosecutor as soon as possible,” he added. – The Vibes, December 28, 2021
