PASIR MAS – The RM10,000 Bantuan Wang Ihsan (BWI) distribution for the next of kin of individuals confirmed to have perished in the floods will be speeded up after completion of the application process.

Women, Family, and Community Development Deputy Minister Datuk Siti Zailah Mohd Yusoff said their next of kin may submit applications for the compassionate cash aid to the nearest district officer.

“A BWI of RM1,000 is also given to the flood-affected heads of household,” she told reporters after the handing-out of BWI to 170 recipients from among 700 victims in the Rantau Panjang district at SK Gual Tinggi here today.

In Kuala Lumpur, 716 individuals from 1,775 families – who had either been affected by the floods, a landslide, or a fire incident – each received BWI amounting to RM1,000 so far.

Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim said besides BWI, flood victims received an additional aid of RM300 from Yayasan Wilayah Persekutuan.

“The rest will be receiving aid soon,” he said after handing out BWI to flood victims in Kg Pasir Baru today.

Shahidan said 313 families in the Lembah Pantai constituency received aid today, comprising 298 families in Kg Pasir Baru and 15 families affected by a landslide at Bangsar Indah Kondominium, via an allocation of RM313,000. – Bernama, December 29, 2021
