KUALA LUMPUR – Dagang NeXchange Bhd (DNeX) has welcomed measures in Budget 2021 aimed at accelerating the implementation of digitalisation in businesses.

“What’s important is that the disbursement of these funds can reach the intended businesses in a timely manner, especially when they are now facing an unprecedented situation with headwinds from multiple fronts, including the Covid-19 pandemic,” said managing director Datuk Seri Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir in a statement today.

The measures include a RM1 billion allocation under the digital transformation scheme for industries, and an additional RM150 million in a digitalisation and automation grant for small and medium enterprises.

In addition, there is continued commitment to introduce digital technology in public service delivery to improve speed and ease of use.

Syed Zainal Abidin said digitalising manual processes and documents will increase accuracy, reduce errors and save time, resulting in a boost in productivity.

“In trade facilitation, for example, where DNeX is a leading provider of e-services, digitalisation can contribute to the increased efficiency and reliability of trade processes, which, of course, is a key factor to boost trade for the country.

“Among our more recent projects are the re-engineering of the tax self-assessment system by the Inland Revenue Board and infrastructure development services related to the public sector data centre in Putrajaya.”

He added that the company is positioning itself as a digital trade facilitation partner for businesses and government agencies, with an eye towards improving trade processes and ease of doing business. – The Vibes, November 6, 2020
