KUALA LUMPUR – Heavy rainfall has hit Klang Valley again this week, causing flash floods in Petaling Jaya and Bukit Jalil, among others.

At 3.05pm today, the Meteorological Department issued a storm warning – strong winds, heavy rain and lightning until 6pm – for Perak, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Negri Sembilan.

Following a tweet by Astro Radio Traffic, flash floods have begun to inundate the Bukit Jalil Highway.

Meanwhile, there are similar reports of flash floods at the KL-Seremban Highway, causing heavy delays in both directions between the Sg Besi toll and the air force base.

One netizen @belle_chenab reported rising water levels outside the Axiata vaccination centre.

“I went to the Axiata vaccination centre because Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said walk-ins are allowed.

“But the Rela staff was not aware (about walk-ins) and left the tent due to the storm,” @belle_chenab tweeted.

In Petaling Jaya, netizens complained that water had entered a restaurant called Nasi Kandar Zainol at a food court on Lorong Sultan.

It was only yesterday that a storm hit Shah Alam, causing damage to property.

According to Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Norazam Khamis, eight cars were damaged in the storm, but no injuries have been reported. – The Vibes, January 28, 2022
