KUALA LUMPUR – The Malaysian embassy in Seoul has reminded Malaysians in South Korea to take precautionary measures as the Korea Meteorological Administration has issued a heavy rain alert across the country.

Based on the weather forecast, heavy rains accompanied by thunder and lightning are likely to happen, leading to flooding in lowland areas, rivers and reservoirs and affecting the walkways and underpass along the river.

“We would like to remind all Malaysians to take precautionary measures by avoiding those areas. In addition, please exercise a high degree of caution when passing by construction sites, slopes, retaining walls, shafts and others,” the embassy said on its Twitter account, @MYEmbSeoul on Monday.

In case of emergency, the Embassy of Malaysia can be reached through the contact number, +8210 8974 8699 or email, [email protected].

Earlier, Yonhap news agency reported four more bodies have been recovered from a flooded underground road in central South Korea, bringing the number of people dead or missing in recent downpours to 49, the officials said Monday.

Across the country, 10,570 people evacuated their homes due to rain damage, Yonhap quoted the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters as saying. – Bernama, July 17, 2023
