KUALA LUMPUR – Police yesterday arrested 519 individuals for violating the conditional movement control order, said Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

The senior minister, in a statement today, said 511 were issued compounds, four were detained and another four released on bail.

He said the offences include failure to observe social distancing (206 cases), failure to wear masks (126) and failure to provide items needed to record personal details (67).

He said 23 premises were found to have been operating beyond the allowed hours, with nine cases involving entertainment outlets, and another 88 cases for other offences.

Ismail Sabri said Ops Benteng, mounted by agencies including police, the Immigration and Customs Departments, and the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency, led to the arrest of six illegal immigrants.

“The government will take stern action against any quarters that attempt to enter the country’s borders illegally, and enforcement agencies will continue to tighten border controls, especially along rat trails.” – The Vibes, November 8, 2020
