KUALA LUMPUR – Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi wants Malaysians, and in particular Johor voters, to look to Melaka as an example of how Barisan Nasional can promise stability if the coalition is given an absolute mandate in the coming polls.
Taking to Facebook, the Umno president said past experiences have proven that BN is the only one capable of ensuring political stability and prosperity.
Drawing comparisons, Zahid said both the Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Perikatan Nasional (PN) administrations, which were respectively in federal power for 22 and 17 months, had clearly failed in governing the nation.
“It is clear as day that BN is the most stable and united political pact to lead the country in the past, present, and future,” he said today.
“Our rivals are still in chaos and a mess to this day, to the point that they can’t agree whom they should cooperate with, who their poster boy is, and which party logo to use.
“Stability was returned to Melaka during the state election last November, and now the opportunity rests with Johoreans to show the same courage,” he added.
In the recently concluded Melaka polls, BN scored a landslide victory, capturing 21 of the 28 seats on offer, as they regained dominance in the state.
PH only managed to secure five seats, none of which came from PKR, while PN won two through Bersatu.
Johor is set to head to the polls later this month, after Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar assented to dissolving the state assembly following an audience with Menteri Besar Datuk Hasni Mohammad.
BN is set once again to contest the coming election on its own and without the cooperation of its Muafakat Nasional partner PAS, who will instead work with Bersatu under the PN banner, similar to the Melaka polls.
According to Zahid, it is clear now that Malaysians aspire for stability, knowing that a lack of this could lead to a failed and unprosperous nation.
“Stability happens when the country is governed by a dominant political coalition, such as the one that we have enjoyed before the dark day of May 9, 2018.
“The ones who suffer the most from the implication of instability are the rakyat. As such, the rakyat has the right to return and ensure stability to the country, based on the proper channels,” he said. – The Vibes, February 8, 2022
