JOHOR BARU – Although DAP has yet to confirm the speculation, it is said that state chief Liew Chin Tong will be replacing a fellow partyman to contest in the Perling seat.

A party source told The Vibes that aside from Liew, its state deputy publicity secretary Marina Ibrahim will also replace the Skudai incumbent.

It is learnt that the decision to drop the incumbents was done at the state committee level.

The decision behind dropping the assemblymen, according to the source, is because the party has determined better candidates for the constituencies.

“The party has to win the election, but there has to be a clear strategy here.”

The Perling constituency was won by Cheo Yee How with 52% of the votes, while Skudai was won by Tan Hong Pin with an overwhelming majority of 82.29%.

DAP is scheduled to officially announce its candidates for Perling and Skudai at 5pm in Senai today.

So far, the party has announced candidates for the Bekok, Bentayan, Pekan Nanas, Senai, Yong Peng, Tangkak, Paloh, Mengkibol, Penggaram, Stulang, and Johor Jaya constituencies. – The Vibes, February 24, 2022
