JOHOR BARU – DAP has confirmed that its state chief Liew Chin Tong will be running for the much talked about Perling seat in Johor.

In an announcement today, DAP made Liew’s candidacy official, even though he lost the Kluang parliamentary seat in the 2018 general election.

Liew will face Gerakan vic-president Khoo Shiaw Lee and an MCA candidate in Perling.

Perling was created in the 2018 redelineation and comes under the Pulai parliamentary constituency.

Perling was won by fellow DAP member Cheo Yeo How.

DAP also confirmed talks of state deputy publicity secretary Marina Ibrahim contesting for Skudai, another seat won by the party in 2018.

On the other hand, Marina will face Gerakan’s Khoo Kong Ek and an MCA candidate as well.

MCA has yet to announce the names of its candidates for the Johor election.

Skudai was won by Tan Hong Pin with an overwhelming majority of 82.29%.

Earlier, a party source said the decision behind dropping the assemblymen is because the party has determined better candidates for the constituencies.

DAP will contest 14 seats in Johor come March 12.

So far, the party has announced candidates for the Bekok, Bentayan, Pekan Nanas, Senai, Yong Peng, Tangkak, Paloh, Mengkibol, Penggaram, Stulang, and Johor Jaya constituencies. – The Vibes, February 24, 2022
