BUTTERWORTH – Penang Deputy Chief Minister II P. Ramasamy has contracted Covid-19.

The 72-year-old Prai assemblyman confirmed that he tested positive on his Facebook page where he revealed that he will be under home quarantine for seven days.

He is believed to have contracted the virus on Wednesday. His condition is seen as Category 1 or Category 2, with mild symptoms.

Ramasamy said he has been keeping himself busy by posting commentaries about current issues including one that he singled out, where Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin was wrong in trying to reject suggestions that ex-convicts and parolees should not be listed as forced labour in the country.

Earlier, he was also critical of two former staffers who accused another colleague in his office of alleged corruption when registering for affordable housing.

Ramasamy is seen as one of the most vocal critics in the state government. He is serving his third term as the state deputy chief minister II. – The Vibes, March 10, 2022
