BATU PAHAT – Penggaram assemblyman Gan Peck Cheng said she will support the state government’s efforts for the good of the people and will “criticise” matters that burden the people.
She said Johor Pakatan Harapan (PH) would not merely oppose, but would also be a “friend” in the state government.
“Developing the state is our main aim. The main task of every elected representative is to serve the people and they (elected representatives) have to be honest, not become an elected representative to pursue something or out of self-interest, ” the Johor DAP treasurer said today.
In the Johor polls yesterday, Gan defended Penggaram with a majority of 9,956 votes in the four-cornered fight.
She defeated Barisan Nasional’s Ter Hwa Kwong, Ronald Sia Wee Yet of Perikatan Nasional, and independent candidate Zahari Osman.
On her plans to develop the state constituency, Gan said she would continue to focus on welfare activities, which she had been doing since becoming the Penggaram assemblyman in 2013, and also to address the problem of flash floods. – Bernama, March 13, 2022
