KUALA LUMPUR – An ambulance driver ferrying a dialysis patient for treatment in Klang yesterday found himself in the middle of a sticky situation as he was threatened by individuals in two vehicles.

In the viral video, the incident which transpired around 2.30pm yesterday saw the ambulance driver warning the driver of a van with the emblem of charcoal distributor Charcoalshop.com not to tailgate to avoid an accident.

Not long after, a motorcycle overtook the ambulance before stopping abruptly, blocking the vehicle in the middle of the road, while the other van pulled up beside them.

The two-minute 20-second clip captured from the dashcam shows the rider getting off his bike before confronting the ambulance driver and demanding that he come down and face him.

Ostensibly panicked, the ambulance driver reversed his vehicle before speeding off, frantically telling his assistants to call their superior.

He then rushed to the police station. The motorcycle and van put up a chase, but the rider exited at an intersection after realising his face was being recorded.

The van, however, did not give up and continued on a high-speed chase before eventually taking off after the ambulance entered the police station.

A Charcoalshop.com manager who only wanted to be known as Angeline told The Vibes that the van driver is a part-time worker who had only joined the company for a few months, and is a well-mannered person with good character.

She said the staff, however, returned the van before his scheduled working hours ended yesterday but took the keys with him presumably out of panic, and has not returned the company’s phone calls since.

“I was shocked to learn about the incident. We don't truly understand what happened yet between the van and ambulance, but I think what my driver did was incorrect and irresponsible.”

Angeline said her company has since lodged a police report on the matter, and is awaiting investigation before taking disciplinary action against the staff.

The company has also been receiving high call volumes from the public demanding an explanation since yesterday’s incident.
