KUALA LUMPUR – International travellers can now pre-book professional RTK-Ag tests at private clinics through a programme by Koperasi Persatuan Perubatan Malaysia, said its chairman Dr Thirunavukarasu Rajoo.
In a statement today, he said the programme involves 2,000 private general practitioners and is aimed at reducing congestion at airports.
“We welcome the decision by the Health Ministry to make professional RTK-Antigen tests a requirement for travellers entering Malaysia.
“We foresee that testing at the airport upon arrival may hold up travellers and cause congestion. This can be an unpleasant experience for our international visitors, and it may even lead to new Covid-19 clusters just when we are reviving our nation’s tourism.
“With a pre-booked professional RTK-Ag test, travellers need not queue for tests at the airports and be held up waiting for the results.”
He said the service at participating clinics is available via pre-booking online for incoming travellers here, with each test priced at RM70.
There are also plans, he said, to provide mobile professional testing where the service is dispatched to travellers.
Starting yesterday, all inbound travellers will be given traveller cards on their MySejahtera applications.
Within 24 hours upon arrival, they are required to get a professional RTK-Ag test done at any of the appointed private or government clinics which use the eCovid system – Malaysia’s Covid-19 outbreak management system.
The traveller card will be removed when the test is negative and the result updated on MySejahtera – otherwise, the traveller will not be allowed to leave the private healthcare facility.
However, if a fully vaccinated tourist did not get a professional RTK-Ag test done within the timeframe, they will be issued with a five-day home surveillance order via the app.
All test results updated on the eCovid or MyVas system will be reflected in MySejahtera within 10 minutes. – The Vibes, April 2, 2022
