KOTA KINABALU – Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) has expressed its support for Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob as Umno’s pick for their prime minister candidate.

Its president Tan Sri Joseph Kurup said the Bera MP’s performance as the current prime minister has been excellent.

He said he had placed emphasis on political stability, economy and welfare of the people.

“Among the successful efforts including uniting all parties, including opposition MPs and introducing the concept of the ‘Keluarga Malaysia’ as well as efforts to transform policies such as ensuring that the Anti-Party Jumping Bill can be realised before the 15th general election.

“PBRS as the sole component party of Barisan Nasional (BN) in Sabah believes that the direction taken by the current government leadership is on the right track,” he said in a statement here today.

Kurup said the current administration under Ismail has also realised the constitutional amendment to raise the status of Sabah and Sarawak as equal partners to Malaya in the Federation of Malaysia.

He added the government had also raised the special annual grant for Sabah to RM126 million from just RM26.7 million.

Kurup also noted Ismail Sabri’s commitment in completing the remaining 19 Sabah Pan Borneo Highway packages within five years’ time.

“Ismail as the prime minister pick for the general election reflects Umno and BN’s maturity.

“This facilitates the task of the party leadership to plan the direction of the country for the sake of stability and continuity of national policy so that the well-being and harmony of the people continue to be protected under BN,” he said. – The Vibes, April 15, 2022
