KUALA LUMPUR – Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin today urged the public to cooperate if asked by business premises to show their risk status on the MySejahtera app, as the government stops mandatory check-ins via the contact tracing app from tomorrow.
On Wednesday, the government announced further relaxations to Covid-19 protocols, dropping outdoor mask mandates, physical distancing requirements, and limits to operating capacity for businesses starting May 1.
Khairy said the transition to Covid-19 endemicity will need the public’s commitment to community solidarity and individual responsibility, on top of clear advisories from the government and efforts by businesses to promote safe premises.
“What does that mean practically? Malls won’t check your risk status at entrances. But businesses like restaurants (high-risk since unmasked) may (recommended) ask to see patrons’ risk status. Pls cooperate,” he said in a tweet.

But onus on individual, if you’re positive on an HSO, just stay home.
Khairy stressed that the onus is on individuals to stay home if they test positive for Covid-19 and are on home surveillance orders.
Business groups echoed Khairy’s advice for individuals who are Covid-19 positive to remain at home.
In a joint statement, organisations representing the retail industry and shopping malls said businesses allow individuals into their premises on the basis of “good faith and integrity”, and urged the authorities to hold high-risk individuals responsible for knowingly exposing others to the virus. – The Vibes, April 30, 2022
