GEORGE TOWN – Subang Airport was temporarily closed this morning to allow for an aerial display rehearsal to take place ahead of the Royal Malaysian Air Force’s (RMAF) Air Force Day on Wednesday.

But this irked Bukit Mertajam MP Steven Sim as he said it delayed his flight from Penang International Airport here.

His flight was scheduled to take off at 8.40am and has since been rescheduled.

He had to disembark and return to the airport waiting lounge.

“I think speaking from the passengers viewpoint, nobody opposes the rehearsal or the celebrations of the Air Force Day but to interrupt a civilian flight is unbecoming,” he said on his Facebook page.

He added that an early notice should be sent to the airline and passengers to facilitate the rehearsal time.

He also questioned how many flights were disrupted this morning due to the rehearsal.

Officials at RMAF could not be reached for comment. – The Vibes, May 30, 2022
