KUALA LUMPUR – Retaking a two-thirds majority in Dewan Rakyat will ensure political stability and subsequently contribute to economic prosperity, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob told Barisan Nasional (BN) members.

In the BN convention here today, he urged coalition members to work hard to retake the supermajority in the coming general election.

“Our pledge today is to win GE15 with a two-thirds majority in the Dewan Rakyat, which will enable us to continue the agenda of helping the people and prospecting the nation, God willing.

“The Barisan Nasional administration will create political stability in the country and subsequently contribute to Asean’s economic prosperity.”

Ismail Sabri, who is also Umno vice-president, proposed three “elements” in BN members’ wooing of voters, the first being a “first-class” service mentality coupled with discipline and party loyalty.

“The loyalty of those within this hall has clearly been tested. Unflinching and unwavering despite being threatened or enticed,” he said.

Ismail Sabri said the second element is winning the hearts and minds of the people, and thirdly, formulating a winning strategy for GE15.

He listed the achievements of the current government, including stopgap measures to address rising raw materials and blanket subsidies that are expected to reach RM71 billion this year. – The Vibes, June 1, 2022
