PRIME Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim admitted that he was very touched and deeply affected when remembering the late Captain Zainol Afiq Bee Sham, who had flown him during the 15th General Election (GE15) campaign.

“When I recall the memories of when the late Captain was responsible for flying me during the GE15 campaign, it made me very sad and deeply affected,” he said in a Facebook post today.

Anwar said that he had just contacted the deceased’s father to convey his and his family’s condolences.

“Tested by the heavy loss, especially for the family and children who are still young. I pray that Allah SWT will grant this family the strength, perseverance and patience to continue to face the days ahead,” he said.

He said that the MADANI Government will ensure that all assistance and needs of the deceased family and the families of other victims are met.

“Our prayers are always with the entire family and those of other victims.

“Malaysia mourns their sacrifice and devotion to the country. Al-Fatihah,” he said. – September 9, 2026
