PUTRAJAYA – Ongoing redevelopments in Kg Sg Baru may have hit another roadblock as Pejuang today filed a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) over alleged misconduct by the Kg Bharu Development Corporation (KBDC).
Pejuang Federal Territories chief Datuk Seri Khairuddin Abu Hassan told The Vibes that the party believes the report will delay the second hearing for the acquisition of terrace houses in the area.
Noting that flat residents have until July 31 to move out, he added that Pejuang has written to ministers, the Land and Mines Office, and the Kuala Lumpur City Council.
“If they do not respond to us within the timeframe we have given, a judicial review will be filed,” he said outside the MACC headquarters here.
He also delivered a statement on behalf of party president Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir who was absent due to “unforeseen circumstances”.
“Kg Sg Baru residents consider KBDC to be an agent or puppet of the developer (Ritzy Gloss Sdn Bhd),” the statement read.
It also questioned why Ritzy Gloss has been prioritised over other developers who might be able to offer better deals for the redevelopment project.
The KBDC is an agency tasked with the responsibility for the development planning in the historic Malay enclave around Kg Baru, in line with the KBDC Act 2011, which mandates the “implementation of policies, directives, and strategies for the development of Kg Baru”.
Meanwhile, Pejuang also urged the MACC to investigate a claim by Ritzy Gloss that it had spent over RM42 million throughout the land acquisition process.
“The MACC should probe the flow of the money and determine if there were any elements of inducements or abuse of power involving officers of the Federal Territories Ministry, KBDC, and the FT Lands and Mines Office.”
It also highlighted the allegedly suspicious nature in which the land acquisition gazettes were issued, pointing out that they were issued two working days apart, amid the third movement control order.
Previously, The Vibes had reported that the Section 4 and Section 8 gazettes were issued last year on Friday, June 18 and Monday, June 21, respectively.
The Section 4 gazette informs a landowner that their property may be acquired while a Section 8 gazette confirms the acquisition.
The party also addressed the alleged bankruptcy of KBDC chairman Datuk Affendi Zahari, noting that according to Section 10(c) of the KBDC Act 2011, an insolvent individual is prohibited from holding office in the corporation.
Calling for the appointment of a new chairman, the statement said the individual must be “competent, of integrity, and free from political influence”. – The Vibes, June 16, 2022
