KUALA LUMPUR – The Land Public Transport Agency (Apad) has opened applications starting today for temporary operator licences (LPS) to enable the use of public service vehicles as goods or e-hailing vehicles.

Apad said in a statement that this was to help public service vehicle operators generate additional income in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic, according to a report by Bernama.

The agency said it was also in line with the provisions under Section 44 and Section 45 of the Temporary Measures to Reducing the Impact of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (Covid-19) Act 2020 (Act 829) which allows the temporary change of use of public service vehicles or tourist vehicles to goods vehicles and vice versa.

“This application is open to all types of public service vehicles that meet the requirements set by the director-general of Land Public Transport.

"Applications are open from today and can be made at all APAD regional offices and counters," said the agency.

A check by The Vibes on the APAD website showed that the application processing fee is set at RM10.

The individual authorised to sign the application form must be a member of the board or management (for Sdn Bhd or Bhd companies), a member from the board of cooperatives (for cooperatives), committee member (for societies or foundations), operator license owner (for sole proprietorship), or a partner (for partnership or limited liability partnership).

Completed forms completed must be submitted by hand at the closest APAD operations branch office, and APAD has the right to approve or reject applications based on the criteria set. – The Vibes, November 19, 2020
