GEORGE TOWN – The hotel fee waiver for Penang hotels has been extended until June 30 next year, said state tourism exco Yeoh Soon Hin.

He said the state government decided on the extension as part of efforts to support the recovery of the services sector.

“The state government understands the difficulties faced by many tourism players at the moment amid the Covid-19 pandemic. This is one of the state government’s efforts to support the tourism industry’s recovery,” he said in a statement today.

He acknowledged that the recovery will take time, and said the Penang government is counting on the support of all parties to revive the travel industry.
