KUALA LUMPUR – There is a strict limit on visitors for former Selangor menteri besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, who has been admitted to the intensive care unit at a hospital here after his health deteriorated.
Hospital staff have imposed strict standard operating procedures for visitation and limited the number of visitors allowed, according to a post on his Facebook page by an administrator.
The post also said Khalid is currently extremely sensitive to the external environment, with priority for visits given to family members.
“His family is asking to be given space during this time. Let’s pray for Tan Sri to recover and for his family to be given the strength and patience in seeing through this test.
“Once again, the admin apologises and would like to extend deepest appreciation for the concern shown by Malaysians towards our beloved leader.”
On Thursday, Khalid’s former political secretary Faekah Husin had posted on Facebook saying the ex-menteri besar’s health condition was worrying, after paying him a visit.
“When I entered the room, I saw Puan Sri Salbiah (Khalid’s wife) sitting faithfully by his side, while watching several nurses preparing medical equipment to treat him.
“My chest felt heavy and sad, what more with the faint recitation of the Quran being played in the room. More saddening when I didn’t have the opportunity to say hello to Tan Sri, as his medical procedure was about to start.”
It was previously reported in May that Khalid had been hospitalised in a private facility for lung infection, although he was later said to be in stable condition.
Khalid was the 14th Selangor menteri besar, leading the state government for more than six years, from March 2008 to September 2014. – The Vibes, July 24, 2022
