ALOR STAR – Action against a trans woman who wore a revealing outfit during Kedah Fashion Week 2022 (KFW22), here, last week will be finalised once the state government holds a holistic discussion on the matter.
According to state Health and Local Government exco Datuk Dr Mohd Hayati Othman, discussions will involve Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor.
The menteri besar, he said, is currently not in the state due to several official engagements, including a visit to the 2022 Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture and Agrotourism exhibition, which also houses the Kedah Pavilion at the Malaysian Agricultural Expo Park, Serdang.
“According to the law, action can be taken over the outfit worn by the man. However, this issue needs to be discussed in further detail.
“I was informed that she attended KFW22 with her friends from Sg Petani.
“She also deleted the picture she uploaded on social media after it went viral,” Dr Hayati added when speaking to Getaran, The Vibes’ Bahasa Malaysia sister portal.
She had taken the pictures on stage, modelling her own outfit, after the event at Aman Central Mall, here, had ended.
“It is understood that the individual in question was not a participant who was invited to show off their clothes in the KFW event,” he said.
He also described her as someone who often posted pictures of herself in scandalous outfits on social media.
“The actions of the individual in question are believed to be personal actions taken after the fashion show event in question had ended.”
He stressed that the state government would look into studying and simplifying rules related to entertainment events and performances in order to make sure they comply with the cultural customs of the state. – The Vibes, August 11, 2022
