2 Johor relief centres closed as floods subside

JOHOR BARU – Two temporary relief centres (PPS) opened following the flash floods in Johor Baru and Pontian districts yesterday were closed at 2pm today.

State Health and Environment Committee chairman R. Vidyananthan said that the two PPS were closed after the floods began to recede.

“The closure involved the PPS in SK Kg Pasir, Johor Baru which housed 148 people from 37 families from Kg Pasir, Kg Seri Serdang, Kg Pengkalan Rinting and Kg Seri Jaya.

“In Pontian, the closure involved the PPS at Kg Pulai Mosque hall, which accommodated 11 people from four families from the village,” he said in a statement today. 

He said that the government is frequently monitoring the flood situation in the state and will continue assisting those affected by the floods. – Bernama, November 22, 2020
