KUALA LUMPUR – Senator Ras Adiba Mohd Radzi is the new chairman of Bernama.

The 52-year-old is the first woman appointed to the post.

The appointment was announced by Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah here today.

He said Ras Adiba will serve in the post for three years, starting yesterday.

He said the appointment has received the consent of Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.

The minister expressed confidence that Ras Adiba will take the national news agency to greater heights.

“As a veteran in the broadcasting industry, I am confident that she has the necessary experience that will help us (Bernama) in delivering news.”

Ras Adiba, who was appointed senator in May, succeeds Suhaimi Sulaiman, who resigned on August 6.

She is a Paralympic athlete, as well as president of OKU Sentral, a civil group championing the rights of people with disabilities. – Bernama, November 24, 2020
