KUALA LUMPUR - Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin believes the passing of the 2021 Budget at the policy stage today shows political maturity among government aligned MPs.

"I would like to thank all Parliament members including those from Perikatan Nasional, Barisan Nasional, Gabungan Parti Sarawak, and Parti Bersatu Sabah who supported Budget 2021 up until the initial voting stage," Muhyiddin said in a Facebook post.

The Prime Minister said the passing of Budget 2021 was not only a success for the current administration but also signifies the commitment of its MPs to place welfare, safety and citizens wellbeing at the forefront.

"This proves that the Perikatan Nasional regime is sympathetic to the pleas of the people and is responsive to the views from all parties in helping the citizens recover and restore the nation's economy that was badly hit by the Covid-19 pandemic," he added.

Today, the Dewan Rakyat passed Budget 2021 at the policy stage through a voice vote.

Datuk Seri Mahfuz Omar (PH-Pokok Sena), however, requested the Speaker Datuk Azhar Azizan Harun for a physical tally, which later failed as just 13 of the required 15 MPs did not stand to support the motion.

It is not all over yet, as the budget heads to the committee level for debates on Monday. - The Vibes, November 26, 2020
