KUALA LUMPUR – The candidate nomination for the 15th general election (GE15) is in full swing this morning for all 222 parliamentary seats and 59 state seats in Perak, 42 in Pahang, and 15 in Perlis – not forgetting the Bugaya state by-election in Sabah.

The submission period of the nomination papers is between 9am and 10am at 222 nomination centres and the campaign period is set for 14 days until 11.59pm on November 18.

However, the Meteorological Department has predicted a wet day in several locations in the peninsula, Sabah, and Sarawak today.

Rain is expected in the morning in some locations in Perlis, Kedah, Penang, Perak, Pahang, Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Melaka, and Johor, as well as the interior of Sabah, Sandakan, Kudat, and Labuan.

Several locations in Perak, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Negri Sembilan, Johor, Sabah's west coast, and Sarawak’s Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Betong and Kapit should also expect rain at night.

The GE15 electoral roll has 21,173,638 voters. Of the number, 20,905,366 are ordinary voters, 146,737 are army personnel and their spouses, 118,794 are police personnel, including from the General Operations Force and their spouses; and 2,741 are absentee voters who are currently abroad.

Given the emergence of several political coalitions, it is expected that most parliamentary seats will see three to four-cornered fights.
