KUALA LUMPUR – Failure to comply with physical distancing made up the highest number of movement curb violations yesterday, said Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

In a statement today, he said another 577 individuals have been arrested, 522 compounded and 55 remanded for breaching virus rules.

Of the total, 215 were nabbed for not maintaining physical distancing, while other violations include entertainment centre activities (116), failure to wear masks (113), failure to prepare customer registration tools (71) and undertaking interstate or inter-district travel (53).

A task force comprising police, military, local council and Health Ministry frontliners conducted checks on 2,737 commercial outlets.

Ismail Sabri said 49 illegal immigrants and two smugglers were detained under Op Benteng, with four vehicles seized.

He said 76,807 individuals returned home via international gateways from July 24 until yesterday, and were placed under quarantine at 79 hotels and 18 public training institutes nationwide.

Of the total, 405 people tested positive for Covid-19, while 10,923 are still undergoing quarantine. – The Vibes, November 28, 2020
