KUALA LUMPUR – “Is this the end of the road? I’m quite certain it isn’t,” Khairy Jamaluddin wrote in an Instagram post today.
He said he had tried his best to win the Sg Buloh parliamentary seat but admitted he “was not good enough” and lost to Pakatan Harapan’s Datuk R. Ramanan.
“I want to reflect on this before I think about what I (will) do next.
“The truth is, I’m exhausted. I haven’t really had time to rest since I was asked to manage the Covid-19 pandemic.
“But it was a great privilege to serve the nation at such a critical time and I’m glad we have recovered better than many other countries,” said the former health minister.
In the official results released by the Election Commission, Khairy was 2,693 votes behind Ramanan, who won 50,943 votes.
The former Rembau MP added that while there remains uncertainty in the country, he hoped the next elected leader will act with wisdom and compassion as the country needs stability and strong leadership more than ever.
The overall results of the 15th general election last night showed that no coalition or party had enough support on its own to form a government, leaving the country with a hung Parliament. – The Vibes, November 20, 2022
